Not Your Average Sunday
Today started like all the other Sundays I've spent here; wake up, go to church, leave after sacrament (because apparently my host mom always needs to grocery shop right after sacrament), and then come home to eat. However after eating I was sent upstairs to change out of my church clothes as we were going somewhere "hot." Not really sure what was happening as I'm the clueless gringa I just did what I was told and changed my clothes. Sure enough we did you somewhere hot. We ended up in Vera Cruz! Whilst in Vera Cruz we visited some family that own a restaurant right of the beach, so I spent most of the time there walking along the beach picking up seashell, writing my name in the sand, and just watching the waves roll to shore. So magical! I'm in love with the ocean! There's just nothing quite like it! Nothing so big, and blue, and beautiful! Reminds me of the lyrics, "I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean," and I did! Just another reminder of how small and insignificant we all are, and there is something so much bigger going on!
After thoroughly enjoying the beach we went to a mall/hotel to pick up my host dad, as he had spent the last three days there. We met him in a conference room with a ton of other people, and whatever was happening turned into some sort of crazy dance thing all at once! There was line dancing/limbo things going on, and a mild mosh pit of sorts. Caught totally off guard I was pushed into the thick of things, and forced to dance, which was incredibly awkward since I had no idea what was going on! After a while I managed to break free, and we went out into the lobby where we found GIANT fish! Of course we had to take pictures with them, and there was an elevator behind their tank that we rode like ten times! And yes I recognize that our maturity level is beyond astounding! But you know what they say! Some things amuse small minds, and since these fish are so giant, I think it's safe to assume that I have a giant mind! ;)

Overall it was quite the memorable day! Definitely not one I will soon forget! I was sad to leave the ocean, but hopefully we'll return on one of our vacations and I'll actually get to swim in it, instead of just walk in up to my ankles!
And just one last picture of Vera Cruz's beautiful temple! It was hard to get a good one, as we were in the car, but the temple was gorgeous! And I absolutely loved the location! It was in the middle of all the chaos of the city, but close to the calm of the ocean. So beautiful! Might need to put coming here on my bucket list! Hopefully another thing we'll have the chance to do on a vacation! But today marks the three months mark, so not much longer until I'm home when you think about! Miss you all so much! I'm really enjoying myself here, but would love to enjoy it with you all! Can't wait to see you! <3
I am still so shocked that you went through with this ALL BY YOURSELF! I'm so proud of you! :)
ReplyDeleteLive it up while you can! See what you can! You may not make it back to Mexico, so enjoy every minute of it. It's a waste of time and energy to feel homesick!
I love you! I had a lady at church on Sunday say "You're starting to poke out." And yes, yes I am. So is my belly button! Love you!
