Long time, no blog...

It's been so long since I've updated! Goodness! Haha! So much to tell! A couple of weekends ago we had another stake ysa acativity which was a volleyball tournament! I swear they planned it just for me! Haha! I cannot tell you how much I love and miss volleyball! And even though here in Mexico it's a much different dynamic of playing it was so much fun! And so cool to play volleyball in a different part of the world! And I love how relaxed, and comfortable I can suddenly become in any group of people if you just pull out a volleyabll!

Then the next weekend was good ol' Canada day! It was ironic to me that I celebrated Canada day in Mexico, but way cool! I love the country that I'm from! It's definitely my first love, and even though I'm loving Mexico, I'm looking forward to returning home to Canada! It really is my home and native land! I miss it so much! (Even the cold winters! We talk about how we miss the snow all the time, and I've been listening to a lot of Christmas music as of late! So glad I'm not missing that!!)
Found this cool canadian shirt! Happy Canada day! :)
The past week was a short week, as we didn't have class on thurday or friday. This meant that we had a four day weekend to travel. During this time we went to Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, Puerto Angel, and Hualtuco.  The first day we visited the Oaxaca ruins, and spent several hours there exploring, and taking pictures! Then in the afternoon we hit up the market and had ice cream! For the most part it was quite a relaxing afternoon! Then that night we spent the night in the bus driving to Puerto Escondido. At first I was having difficulty sleeping, but after a gravol I was OUT! Love that drug! Haha!! When we were in Puerto Escondido it rained most of the time so we spent the majority of our time in our hostel (I'd never stayed in a hostel before, so it was a way cool experience, but we didn't have blankets at night so it was really cold! haha!!) but we did make it out to the beach and down to the market! Then the next morning we went to Puerto Angel where we took a boat tour of a lagoon full of crocodiles (Yikes!) and iguanas, then we visited a turtle museum, and spent the rest of the afternoon on a gorgeous beach! On this beach we met some locals and played some beach volleyball with them (again with volleyball! I love it! :) ) Then on our last day we went snorkeling in the morning, which is something I've never done before so I enjoyed every minute of it! Such a good time! Then we made the LONG drive back to Tehuacan through the mountains at top speed! I have never been on such a long stomach turning drive in my entire life! Gross! We were so happy to finally be back home where I went straight to my bed and fell into a VERY deep sleep!

I'm such a rebel! Haha!

We got two for the price of one!
I'm so grateful for the opportunity I've had to come to Mexico, and for the experiences I've been so blessed to have! I've really been trying to focus on enjoying the present instead of wishing it away for the future, and it has really helped me to enjoy this experience. My time her is slowly coming to an end, and it's getting hard to stay focused on teaching, however we were told when we came here that this last month would define our entire experience, so I'm really trying to stay busy and just have fun! Miss you all so much, and cannot wait to see you again, but I know I've got to stay busy, and go out with a bang! See you all soon!

  1. You're a goof and I love you! Did the snorkel gear work well enough? Did you see any cool fish?
