Guess it's time for a new blog post! I feel like my time in Mexico is flying past! It's already been over three weeks since we've arrived! In some ways it feels like it's been more, like I can't hardly remember my life before Mexico, but in other ways I can't believe that my first month is almost over leaving me with only two and a half months to fulfill my need of adventure before I start school again. This week has been so crazy! So much has happened! We had our first rainfall for this rainy season, and it made quite the entrance! With lightning lighting the entire sky, and loud rumbling thunder we lost power at the school, and has dozens of crying kids to comfort. When I left the school that night I had to wade through mid-calf deep water in the streets. It was nuts! And this all happened in a matter of an hour! I also lost my voice this past week, and couldn't teach for two days because I literally could not speak. Even now I still am quite quiet and hoarse, but slowly I'm getting my voice back! Looking hopeful for tomorrow! On friday we celebrated the first mexican birthday in our group after school with a delicious tres leche cake! I've never tried it before, but it was soooo good! Especially for a fake birthday! (We all made up fake birthdays we could celebrate in mexico, because everyone needs to experience a birthday fiesta in mexico!!) That brings us to saturday, meaning we survived the week! Hooray! Haha!! We spent most of saturday wandering around the market getting a feel for house shopping here in Tehuacan works! Believe it or not it was quite tiring all the walking in the heat! But luckily saturday was cooler than the other days have been (meaning below 30!) And we ended the day off playing in a basketball tournament at the church which eventually just turned into a dance! This was my favorite part, as we aren't allowed to go out dancing in Tehuacan as the only places to dance are the clubs. :/ I absolutely love the energy at dances! So happy that we were able to dance! And since we're learning how to salsa with Teo, we were able to practice what we knew! I think salsa might become one of my favorite dances! I danced salsa for like two hours straight! Loved it! Such a crazy/fun weekend! Less than 90 days now! Cannot believe it!! So excited to hug everyone!! Love you all sooooo much!! Until next time! <3
