Overdue

So I just realized that it's been over a week since my last blog entry, which really made me aware of how fast my time here is flying by! I'm absolutely loving the rainy season here! It rains almost every other say without fail, and every time it does rain it's a big ol downpour! It's amazing! I've never experienced this kind of rain and I love it! Whitney (another of the ilp teachers) and I spent our Saturday night playing soccer and volleyball in the downpour with some of the ysa members here. We got wet, dirty, and cold, but it was honestly one of the funnest nights I have has here in Mexico! Really makes you see that it's the people not the place that makes the difference! And it also makes me realize how blessed I am to have such wonderful people in my life! How different life would be without them!
Whitney and I soaking wet after soccer and volleyball!

On Friday we had our cultural meeting where we learnt how to make corn tortillas! Much harder than it looks because those ladies make it like a piece of cake! And it only has three ingredients! Corn, water, and some sort of white powder (which we were told was crushed rock...?) haha! Made such good tortillas and friends! Love it!

Tortillas for everyone!!
This is how they carry tortillas around to sell them door-to-door.
Eating the tortillas we made! Yum!
Just this and water! That's it!
This week we also had out mid-semester visit from one of the big bosses in Utah! Scary! I was so nervous as the day quickly approached! I didn't feel ready, and compared to the other girls (who are mostly all in elementary education programs) I felt very inadequate for the work we're doing here. However I didn't get fired or yelled at so things must be ok! :) In fact the head teacher told me that I had done a really good lesson that day so...CRUSHED IT! haha!!! The rest of the week was pretty normal (at least normal for here!) haha! We played soccer, went dancing, ate tacos, etc. Oh! And just a fun little side not, I ate a cricket! Would you believe it!? Me! I ate a cricket! It was dry, crunchy, and really spicy! Overall not too bad, but I'm not sure I'd do it again! haha!
Tacos with the big boss!

Random musicians at the taco place!
Yeah I ate that!
Going for it!
After eating the cricket! Haha!!
Our first month is already over, and with so much planned in the coming months I feel like my time here is all going to escape me, which is good and bad! Keeps me from getting homesick, but leave me feeling worried about running out of time! I'm loving my time here, and although I miss home a lot, I'm not quite ready to be done this adventure! Miss you all and will see you soon! So much amor!! <3
