What a perfect weekend! I cannot get over how amazing it was! We left Tehuacan Friday morning and drove for five hours until we came to a small mountain community call Cuetzalan. It was so remote and so beautiful! Most of the people still wore very traditional clothes, and the city itself seemed fairly untouched my american pop culture which I loved! When we got there friday evening we checked into the most adorable little hotel with authentic towels, blankets, and pillowcases, and homemade soap! Then we wandered out into the city to find food, where we stumbled across the most adorable town square! When we returned to the hotel we met some other people visiting Cuetzalan. One was an older man from the states who'd been living in Puebla for 30 years, and the other was a younger guy from Vera Cruz who sopke fluent english, so it was nice to visit with others who spoke our language. Then we spent the day on saturday hiking through the jungle where we were able to swim under a waterfall, explore a cave, and walk through some ancient ruins! It was so amazing! Loved every minute of it! I felt like I was in a movie the whole time! Best adventure ever! It was exactly what I wanted out of Mexico! Then on sunday morning we got together to share testimonies and spiritual thoughts as we were missing church that day. It was such a beautiful discussion that ended with us all crying, but the spirit was definitely felt up there in all those gorgeous mountains! No way could I have asked for a better weekend! As teachers we left Cuetzalan feeling bonded and much more appreciative of each other! I love the girls I'm working with so much and I'm so grateful to know them! I feel like this whole Mexican adventure has completely changed me for the better! I love it here! I do miss my family and friends back home, but I can honestly say now that I'm not ready to come home yet! So bring on the next 2 1/2 months! I'm so ready for it!
